106 New Citizens Sworn In, Representing Nations Ranging From Afghanistan to Zambia
People from 36 different countries are now Americans.
Rockland County Clerk Paul Piperato hosted a naturalization ceremony Friday at the Fire Training Center in Pomona, where he administered the Oath of Allegiance to 106 new citizens from 36 countries.
The keynote speaker was Town of Ramapo Councilman Daniel Friedman. Organ transplant recipients Michael Prendergast and Lauren Shields spoke on behalf of the New York Organ Donor Network, encouraging the new citizens to register as organ donors.
Judge Thomas Walsh served as the officiating state Supreme Court justice. Bernhard Storch also spoke and Michael Mark performed several musical selections, while hundreds observed the ceremony.
