The Rockland Business Association has named Orangeburg-based military shelter manufacturer DHS Systems as the winner of its Chairman’s Award for Overall Business Excellence as part of the organization’s 2011 Pinnacle Awards.

The awards are set to be presented at the RBA’s Annual Awards Dinner on May 4 at the Marriot Hotel in Park Ridge, NJ, according to RBA President and CEO Al Samuels.

Samuels said the Pinnacle Obelisks have been presented for the past eight years to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of members in six categories of involvement. 

The award winners, including DHS Systems, have shown a strong commitment to the RBA and the community, Samuels said.

This year's winners are:

 — Chairman's Award for Overall Business Excellence: DHS Systems

— President's Award for Service to the RBA: Fran Reinstein, a Key Bank vice president

— Corporate Citizenship Award: Goldstein Leiberman & Co. of Mahwah, NJ

— Woman's Forum Award for Outstanding Achievement by a Woman in Business: MariEllyn Dykstra-Donnellan, A. Dykstra Florist & Greenhouse in Spring Valley

— Manufacturer's Award for Business Excellence: NicePak PDI of Orangeburg.

— Outstanding Achievement by a Non-Profit Organization: Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern.

"Over the years, the Pinnacle program has become the business community's premier recognition event," said Samuels. "Last year's Dinner drew almost 400 attendees and more are expected this year. Also, the event now features three presenting sponsors, Active International, Provident Bank and Key Bank, another indication of the popularity and importance of the event."  

As part of the awards presentation, the RBA shows an hour-long video presentation that focuses on the award winners and their accomplishments.
