Clarkstown town clerk picks up new endorsements in Democratic bid for state Senate.

Clarkstown Town Clerk David Carlucci has picked up three new endorsements in his bid for state Senate, in which he wants to take the seat was held by the late state Sen. Thomas Morahan, R-New City.

Carlucci, D-New City, has been endorsed by U.S. Rep.  John Hall,  Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee and the Empire State Pride Agenda. The districts of Hall and Jaffee overlap the state's 38th Senate District, which covers all of Rockland and part of Orange County.

"I'm very impressed with David Carlucci's committment to reform Albany and change the way our state government does business," Hall said. "He is exactly the kind of Senator we need in our state capitol, and I strongly endorse his campaign for the New York State Senate."

Jaffee said she has worked with  Carlucci in his role as a Clarsktown official. She called him a " tremendously talented and committed public servant."

The Empire State Pride Agenda bases its endorsements on each candidate's position "on issues such as marriage equality for same-sex couples, ending legal discrimination against transgender New Yorkers, increasing funding for LGBT health and human services providers, as well as broader topics involving social, racial and economic justice."

"I am very honored and humbled to have the support of Congressman Hall, Assemblywoman Jaffee and the Empire State Pride Agenda," Carlucci said. "I look forward to being part of the state senate where I will join them in the fight to protect human rights, reduce property taxes, reform our government, and, most of all, bring needed jobs and economic growth to Rockland and Orange Counties."

On the Republican side, Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef is also seeking election to Morahan's seat.
