County Executive Meets With 2012 Leadership Rockland Group

Vanderhoef recalled two centuries of county history and economic development

Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef spoke to leaders from Rockland's businesses and not-for-profit organizations on Thursday about the county’s history and economic development.

The members of Leadership Rockland were participating in the educational program which brings local leaders together with the goal of identifying, informing and inspiring them through a series of programs that showcase best practices that exist within the county.

Vanderhoef, one of the program’s founders, presented to the group at DHS Systems LLC in Orangeburg.  He shared his knowledge of county history, including anecdotes about famous Rocklanders and facts about the growth and development of various parts of the county.

“The class of 2012 continues to gain an enhanced
knowledge of Rockland County, and over the coming months, I believe,
will be prepared to demonstrate that they are most capable of bringing
positive change to their local communities,” said Vanderhoef.  “For
two decades Leadership Rockland has had a record of success in
connecting participants with people and ideas, and as a result, leaders
have emerged who have been helpful in moving Rockland County
forward.”

Vanderhoef praised DHS Systems as “an example of a Rockland Business
success story.  This Orangeburg-based company has evolved to become recognized around the world as the leader in soft-walled shelter technology and support equipment for military, homeland security and emergency medical situations.”
