Driver, 19, Ticketed After Head-On Crash On Route 304
Both drivers injured, taken to Nyack Hospital.
A 19-year-old driver from West Nyack who crossed into on-coming traffic on Route 304 was issued a ticket after a head-on crash in which he and a New Jersey woman were injured Tuesday morning, according to Clarkstown police.
John Tricario of West Nyack and Xiaoran Yang of Parsippany, NJ, were both taken to Nyack Hospital after the wreck, in which Yang was briefly trapped and had to be rescued by volunteers from the New City Fire Department.
Sgt. Harry Baumann said Tricario suffered cuts to his arm and a broken leg. He said Yang complained of head, neck and back pain. Both were taken to Nyack Hospital for treatment.
Baumann said Tricario was issued a summons for failing to keep right of the pavement markings. The wreck took place about 7:45 a.m. at Arlene Court.
In addition to Clarkstown police and New City firefighters, the crash victims were assisted by members of Rockland Paramedics and volunteers from the New City Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Corps and the Nanuet Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

As of Tuesday, the police had not attributed the crash to any one particular cause, other than citing the one driver for failure to keep right of the pavement markings.

You know, the great majority of the accidents occur in the the State of New York occur when the drivers are sober and not using the phone or text. Mostly, it is just errors in judgment.

Andromachos, welcome to reality... most drivers cross the dividing line when they are drunk or texting (not when they are sober).

Ms Tricario:
A piece of advice ...... do not comment on this matter in a public forum like this. You run the danger of saying something about the accident that could be used in a future lawsuit. Leave it to the insurance companies and your family's attorney to handle this matter in the proper manner. This is a private matter between you and the other party.

Maureen is right, however, the cause of accident some of you have come to certainly shows your ignorance, which leads me to explain the accurate cause of this accident. The driver was cut off by a white suv which came into his lane abruptly and in a reckless manner, causing the driver to slam on his breaks to avoid hitting the white suv. He couldn't go right because of the car next to him. Therefore, he swerved left causing him to cross the double yellow. In result of the white suv driving recklessly it caused this horrific accident. I understand the 19 year old is in bad shape and has undergone surgery. I don't know the condition of the other driver, but I do pray she is ok. Beware all! This can happen to anyone of us, so please do not come to conclusions when you don't know all the facts. Watch CSI, Criminal Minds, etc., if you want to play detective.

You people are all idiots, and have no idea what you are talking about. He wasn’t texting we checked his phone. I don’t think he had time to delete his text messages with a shattered tibula bone, fractured knee caps and a 5 inch hole in his right arm.. Not to mention his scratches and cuts everywhere else. I don’t think his first instinct was to delete his text messages. ALSO, he did get cut off. So please shut up.
