New City Man Charged With DWI After Accident On Main Street In New City

A New City man who drove into an earthen embankment at the intersection of North Main Street and New Hempstead Road in New City early Friday morning was charged with driving while intoxicated, according to Clarkstown police.
Robert Lee, 37, hit the embankment about 4:30 a.m. Police said that as town officers were investigating the accident they put Lee through a field sobriety test, which he failed. Lee was taken to Clarkstown police headquarters in New City, where police said he failed a chemical breath test for alcohol.
Police said they also found that Lee's driver's license had previously been suspended. He was released pending a Feb. 13 Town Court hearing in New City on charges of driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.
