New City Woman, 61, Accused Of DWI After Accident

Two cars collided on North Main Street in New City.

A 61-year-old New City woman has been charged with drunken driving after a two-car accident on North Main Street in New City on Monday, according to Clarkstown police.

Elba Alvarez was driving a 1995 Mitsubishi when she was involved in a crash with a 2003 Toyota Camry at the intersection of North Main Street and Cavalry Drive at about 3:15 p.m. Police said the Camry sustained extensive front end damage.

No one was reported injured in the accident.

During an investigation of the accident, police said Alvarez was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and with refusing to take a chemical breath test for alcohol.
