Representative Nita Lowey Earns A+ For Foreign Policy Issues

Citizens for Global Solutions ranked members of Congress on voting records

Citizens for Global Solutions awarded Rep. Nita Lowey an A+ grade for her support of foreign policy issues.  The organization released its 2012 Congressional Report Card that presented the same grade to New York’s Rep. Gary Ackerman and Rep. Charles Rangel.

Lowey received extra credit from the Citizens for Global Solutions for introducing legislation for the establishment of basic universal education standards through working relationships between the U.S. and other nations, non-governmental organizations, and civil society groups.

Citizens for Global Solutions Chief Executive Officer Don Kraus said, “Rep. Lowey understands that international cooperation is essential, to build a safer, more secure world.”

House members and senators were graded on their support of Citizens for Global Solutions’ key legislative priorities of climate change, nuclear non- proliferation, U.N. funding, human rights, and support for key treaties. Grades were determined by tabulating the scores of 11 votes in the House that were weighted to reflect the importance of the legislation to Citizens for Global Solutions. Extra credit was decided by the extent of each Congressperson’s backing of the group’s core issues.
