Albertus Magnus built a 29-point lead by halftime and cruised to a 71-33 victory at home against Putnam Valley in a first-round Section 1 Class B boys basketball playoff game Friday at Albertus.

Albertus Magnus senior forward Tyler Sayre led all scorers with 25 points. Jack Sullivan scored 11 points and Joe McGuinness added 10 for the Falcons. Ryan Basso scored 13 points to lead Putnam Valley.

Albertus Magnus will play at home 7 p.m. Feb. 22 against Briarcliff in the quarterfinals.

Girls Basketball

In the first game of Friday's doubleheader at Albertus Magnus, the Falcons defeated Brewster, 54-44.

Albertus Magnus will play in the quarterfinals 5 p.m. Feb. 22 at home against Nanuet, which upset Somers, 56-42, Friday.
