McCrudden 'An Excellent Police Officer'

Clarkstown Police Chief Michael Sullivan described Officer McCrudden as dedicated and with a deep sense of personal honor.

 

Clarkstown Police Chief Michael Sullivan recalled Police Officer Terrance McCrudden as an “excellent police officer and an excellent guy.” He said he could not remember a complaint about the 17-year veteran.  McCrudden grew up in New City and selected it as his patrol area.

Family, friends and fellow officers paid their respects at a wake Thursday night for the 48-year-old who lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday. Visiting hours at Higgins Funeral Home on South Main Street in New City continue on Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in New City with burial to follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet.

Chief Sullivan said area law enforcement agencies have been notified about McCrudden’s funeral.  He said Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco and Orangetown Police Chief Kevin Nulty notified him that their officers volunteered to patrol Clarkstown on Saturday so McCrudden’s colleagues could attend the funeral.

“We’re very grateful,” said Chief Sullivan of the offer from the other agencies.

Clarkstown’s officers who would normally work the Saturday day tour will be assigned to the funeral. Chief Sullivan said bagpipers, the honor guard; color team and fire squad will be present at the funeral.

Officer McCrudden is survived by his brothers, Christopher (Joanne), Daniel (Patricia), Gerard; his sisters, Danielle Fairclough (Robert), Noelle Zamow (Andrew) and Gabrielle McCrudden; he was the uncle of eight; special friends Maureen Hanlon and Trish Cahill-Fleming. His parents, Daniel and Cathleen McCrudden and his brothers, Francis and Gregory, predeceased him.
