An accident involving a truck and a car on the northbound New York State Thruway killed one person and jammed traffic this afternoon in Hillburn.

The 12:30 p.m. accident brought out police and volunteer firefighters from Hillburn and Sloatsburg. A car became trapped under a truck reported to be hauling tires. A person in the car was killed, according to police, who are still investigating the crash.
