Dr. Arlene W. Clinkscale has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Campus Fun & Learn Child Development Center for a two-year term, to run until October, 2013. The Center is a leader in the care and education of children between the ages of six weeks and five years of age. It is open to the public and located on the RCC campus.
Dr. Clinkscale has distinguished herself in the field of education since 1950. She came to Rockland County in 1960, after 10 years teaching elementary school in Virginia, and taught in Pearl River and Spring Valley before assuming a series of senior administrative positions in the East Ramapo and Nyack Central School districts.
She served as District Superintendent in Nyack from 1981 to 1987 and then went to the Englewood, NJ Public Schools, where she served as Principal, Assistant Superintendent and Acting Superintendent. Her most recent public school position was in Roslyn, Long Island, where she served as Educational Consultant for Minority Affairs.
Dr. Clinkscale, of Monsey, earned a BS from Hampton Institute in Hampton, VA, and a Master’s degree and professional diploma from Teachers College, Columbia University. She was awarded an honorary degree from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, where she served on the Board of Trustees. In 2010, the Rockland County Legislature reappointed Dr. Clinkscale to the RCC Board of Trustees to serve another five-year term, to run until June 30, 2015.
