The JCC Rockland board of directors has announced this week that they will begin construction on a new heated outdoor pool to be completed by summer 2013.
The pool, which will measure 20’ x 50’ with depths of 3.5’-4.5’, will be built on the existing Lewis Family Playground.
The pool is expected to be open in time for summer camp, which primarily serves children ages 2-5, and will serve a variety of additional purposes, including swim classes, lessons, and free swim for children in JCC Rockland’s sports camp for kindergarten through elementary school. The pool will also be available to family fitness members with recreational swimming on weekends.
“Our parents have been really happy with their experience at our summer camp, but the feedback each year is that they want their kids to learn to swim,” said Joshua Krakoff, the JCC’s chief operating officer. “This new children’s pool will enable us to better serve the needs of our camp families, and reach out to new people looking for an excellent summer camp experience for their child.”
