The Rockland Community Foundation announced the appointment of Karen Michalowski as the newest member of its Board of Directors. Michalowski has volunteered with Leadership Rockland and the Rockland Family Shelter. She is the owner and managing Partner of ASM Associates, a Piermont-based business that provides personalized financial assistance for small businesses and individuals.
"Karen brings an exceptional enthusiasm for philanthropy as well as strong financial capabilities that make her a valued addition to our Board," says President Patrick Byrne. "Her deep ties to the community and commitment to the non-profit sector will help us to continue to realize our mission of connecting donors with causes they care about in Rockland County."
Her most recent affiliations include serving as chair of the Program Committee at Leadership Rockland, past treasurer of Leadership Rockland Alumni, and a more than 10 year association with the Rockland Family Shelter, where she served a two-year term as Board President from 2003 to 2004.
The mission of the Rockland Community Foundation resonates strongly with her.
"Having grown up and raised my family in Rockland I wanted to be part of an organization that continues to support our county and works to make it a better place to live for all of us," said Michalowski. "The Rockland Community Foundation provides a way to keep our charitable donations serving the people of Rockland."
