Living Well with Diabetes 6-Week Workshop Series
Place: Pearl River Library
80 Franklin Avenue in Pearl River, New York
Dates: Fridays: 12/7, 12/14, 12/21 12/28, 1/4, and 1/11
Time: 10 AM to 12:30 PM
“We encourage County residents with diabetes or pre-diabetes to attend our workshop series and learn how to manage their diabetes. This is especially important during the holiday season, when it can be more difficult to follow healthy food and exercise guidelines,” said Dr. Joan Facelle, Rockland County Commissioner of Health.
Two trained leaders (one or both of whom are living with a chronic disease themselves) will conduct the 6-week workshop series. Topics include understanding diabetes, keeping track of your blood sugar, taking care of your skin and feet, staying fit, understanding your medication and treatments, how to talk effectively with your doctor, learning easy healthy food guidelines, thinking positive, and learning to make an action plan.
All workshop participants will receive a copy of the companion book, “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions” and the relaxation disc “A Time for Healing.” The workshop series is open to the public. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. For more information, or to register, contact the Health Department at (845) 364-2501.
