Over the past month, we have run an informal FaceBook poll asking the question "Who has the Best Burger in Rockland". Hundreds responded, and the winner of our unofficial 'Best Burger' poll is...The Burger Loft right here in New City! Honorable mention goes to The Filling Station in Palisades.
I stopped by Friday for lunch with some former colleagues from the NYPD and personally announced the news to customers, staff, and John, the owner of The Burger Loft.
This poll follows a previous effort to unofficially identify the "Best Pizza in Rockland", a title secured by the Nanuet Hotel, with honorable mention going to New City Pizza and Martio's Pizza in Nanuet.
Beyond the good cheer that comes when we announce the winners of these contests, we also find that the buzz created actually helps all the contestants, as the comments offered by our FaceBook fans generates an interest to actually patronize these named establishments. That translates into economic upticks; always a good thing for a local economy.
