County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef today unveiled commemorative plaques in honor of the 2011 and 2012 inductees to the Rockland County Civil Rights Hall of Fame.
The 2011 honorees include: the late Bernard L. Charles and Eleanor “Ellie” Charles, the late William “Bill” Darden, the late Bernice C. Glass and the late Laurence H. Holland. The 2012 honorees include: Phyllis B. Frank, Doroteo “Ted” C. De Guzman, the late Thomas Ulysses Alexander and Willie Trotman.
“We are proud to display the portraits of our honorees in the County office building to serve as examples of those who work tirelessly to promote civil and human rights in our Rockland community,” said Vanderhoef.

The new portraits will join those already on display on the first floor of the Allison-Parris County Office Building in New City. The first honorees were inducted in 2003.
Vanderhoef created the Civil Rights Hall of Fame to recognize individuals who have significantly contributed to the advancement of equality, diversity, human rights and civil rights in Rockland County.
