Local Bakery Raising Money for Intern Turned Employee's College Fund
Hudson Valley Cakery in Valley Cottage would like to help one of their employees, Lein Uong, a Nyack High School graduate, by raising money to contribute to her college fund. She will be attending The Culinary Institute of America on March 4th to pursue her career path as a pastry chef.
All you have to do is come in on Saturday March 1st to buy something and a percentage of the proceeds will go towards Lein’s college fund. It’s as simple as buying a cupcake. Please come in and help support her. Every little bit counts.
About Lein:
In sixth grade, Lein discovered her love for baking. When choosing a college came around, she knew she had to go for baking, the CIA being at the top of her list. Once accepted into the CIA, Lein had to gain experience before attending the college. As a senior at Nyack High School, Lein began working at the Cakery in April of 2013 as an intern. She was then hired in July. Since working there, Lein has learned so much. She started out only working a few days a week and now works almost full time. Lein has grown immensely as an employee and a baker since she first started. She hopes to put this experience to use and one day open her very own bakery.

Hudson Valley Cakery is owned by husband and wife Brandon & Kelly Harris. Brandon & Kelly decided to leave their professional careers in Virginia and move back to NY to create their dream desserts in June 2012. They began selling cakes, pies, tarts and cookies to gourmet supermarkets and specialty stores in Rockland County and Westchester. In December 2012 they opened their retail store in Valley Cottage, NY. They bake everything from scratch on site using all natural ingredients- no hydrogenated oils, trans fats, artificial flavors or preservatives. They have established a devoted following especially for their gourmet cupcakes and specialty cakes.
