The COTA Lions Club (Childrens Organ Transplant Association) formed in response to the compassion and action that the Nanuet/Rockland, Westchester, and Putnam Lions Clubs have shown on behalf of Jayshawn Jones. Jayshawn is a five year old Nanuet resident who needed and received a heart transplant earlier this spring.

The Nanuet Lions, under guidance of Lions Pat Hart and Past District Governor Barbara Chuck, took up the challenge of fundraising to cover Jayshawn’s medical expenses --- $25,000 --- NOT COVERED by insurance. With great assistance from Lion Angelo Purcigliotti and the Somers Lions Club, along with the Yorktown Lions Club, in less than three months, Lions have raised nearly $14,000 toward the $25,000 in medical expenses.
