Northern Westchester Rockland Putnam Lions (District 20R1) to Honor Lion District Governor Barbara Chuck

On Friday, June 13,  Lions and friends will gather at the Tarrytown Doubletree,  455 South Main Street, Tarrytown,  7 – 11 PM,  to honor District Governor Barbara Chuck, of the Nanuet Lions, for her year of service as Lion District Governor (chief executive officer for the Lions tri county area).

Lions Clubs are service organizations concentrating on the vision impaired,  youth, and  community service as needed.  

DG Barbara is the first legally blind Lion to serve as governor in the Hudson Valley.    Her achievements  include  organization of fundraising efforts for an area child receiving a heart transplant ($8000 to date), coordination of health fairs in Peekskill and Clarkstown, sponsorship of a Lion Community Diabetes Walk,  organization of a Lion Journey for Sight   awareness/fundraiser for Vacation Camp for the Blind – New Hempstead and Guiding Eyes for the Blind in Yorktown.

DG  Barbara is an energetic advocate for volunteerism and community service.  She has sponsored over 75  people as Lion members, and  last month  organized the Hudson Valley Blazin’ Leos Club,  comprised of 40 high school students from five  area high schools.
