PSC Hearings on United Water rate increase application

Don’t let the Public Service Commission double Rockland’s water rates to bail out United Water’s mismanagement!

Stopping runaway water rates is up to you!

Speak out at public hearings APRIL 23 & 24th!

Wednesday, April 23, 4:30 & 7:30 p.m.

Felix Festa Middle School

Auditorium B – Wing Entrance

30 Parrott Road

West Nyack, NY 10994

Thursday, April 24, 4:00 & 7 p.m.

Town of Ramapo Town Hall

237 Route 59

Suffern, NY 10901

United Water wants YOU to pay an immediate 24.5% increase!

This is only the beginning…

United Water ALSO has applied for a $56.8 million surcharge, a down payment on a $153+ million desalination plant that is not needed!

Let the governor and the PSC know: Rockland ratepayers should not pay the price for UW’s corporate mismanagement! State agencies have found a pattern of mismanagement, overcharging and improprieties.

In fact, the NYS Division of Consumer Protection recommends an investigation and a forensic audit. It’s time for Rockland to let the governor know, we won’t be a cash cow for United Water!

Come out, speak out, let your friends & neighbors know too!

I just noticed the author of this article. How could I have missed it? THE SIERRA CLUB should be pounding the table for higher rates not fighting them as we all know that higher rates will result in Lower consumption. I thought that was what they wanted? What the hell is up with the SIERRA Club? What do they REALLY want? UNBELIEVABLE that they want lower rates and higher consumption!!! Can you believe it?

Maybe George Pontanovic, our resident enviro prognosticator and Al Gore wannabe and his major supporter Chris St Lawrence, our will be at this meeting to push for higher rates which reduce consumption? If they are NOT there supporting reduced consumption and higher rates you gotta wonder what these guys are REALLY up to when they attack your local water company saying we do not need Desal because we can conserve and reduce consumption. Interesting isn't it?

WaterD.. as far as i know the water company is guaranteed to make a profit just like insurance companies are. how much did water consumption go down in the summer since the 50% increase went into effect.and how much of it can be attributed to personal use and not changes in landscaping design. It was not, but if the increase was meant to compensate UW for a unknown and yet to be determined loss of revenue due to less water supplied how did the come up with 50%, what if there was no decrease, what if there was an increase, who get the cash and why.Without looking at the numbers i will go out on a limb and say the 50% increase has increased, not decreased or kept constant UW's bottom line for no extra service, if it did not they would have been crying a long time ago. They need to rescind this increase and see what happens.we got 1 week carlucci If i am right what did they do with the extra money. I truly doubt water consumption went down 33 1/3% and anything less in terms of decrease is money in the bank for no work It is a little ironic the the meeting is at FFesta. I encourage people to look at the road patchwork as they drive on germonds from Bardonia rd to FF.Where for most people a water main repair is an anomoly, that is not the case here. UW spends such a significant amount of time fixing the main there that they may want to think about erecting a remote station on the traphagen property just to be close to that locale. Everything needing building in ctown seems to land right about there so why not. to be fair to UW they do not dilly dally like the town or county hw depts and the patches are pretty good
