The 24th Annual County Executive Arts Awards was held at the Cultural Arts Center at Rockland Community College. Six awards were given to individuals and an organization for making a significant contribution to the arts community in Rockland County.
Awards were presented to the following:
- Morose Leonard - Arts Educator
- Daniel Wolff - Literary Artist
- Jacquelyn Drechsler - Performing Artist
- Brett DiPalma - Visual Artist
- The Rockland County Jazz and Blues Society - Arts Organization
- Bill Batson - Patron of the Arts
The County Executive presented the new "Ars Longa" Award, bestowed on an individual or organization that has made a lasting, lifelong impact on the arts and quality of life in Rockland County, in honor of Edward Hopper.
Performers at the ceremony included Grammy-winning jazz pianist Alan Broadbent, world-renowned cellists, husband and wife duo Julia Lichten and David Geber and the Jeffrey Friedberg Band.
The County Executive's Office and the Office of Tourism & Local Development partnered with the Arts Council of Rockland to produce the event this year. Sponsors of the 24th Annual County Executive Arts Awards included Orange & Rockland Utilities, News 12, ArtsRock and the New York State Department of Economic Development’s I Love NY program.
