Rockland Building & Construction Trades Council Endorses Day

Represents 21 Various Private Sector Unions in County

New City - Ed Day, candidate for Rockland County Executive, today announced that he has been endorsed by the Rockland County Building & Construction Trades Council.

John Maria, Jr., President, stated in the formal endorsement letter that the union delegates to the council had "unanimously decided to endorse your candidacy for County Executive."

Maria continued that "We feel that [Ed Day] represents the beliefs of organized labor and that he displays the qualities that make an effective elected official."

The Rockland County Building & Construction Trades Council is an umbrella organization for 21 unions active within Rockland County, ranging from Electrical Workers to Bricklayers to Sheet Metal Workers and more.

"As the son of a union electrician, as the husband of a union member, and as a union member myself, this endorsement is quite meaningful," Day said in reaction.  "I am extremely proud and honored to be selected by so many hard working union members as their standard-bearer this November."

This endorsement, combined with those of Laborers Local 754 and three police unions, gives Day an extraordinarily high level of support for a Republican in the traditionally Democratic union sector.
