"We are very pleased to announce today that the Rockland Women's Political Caucus officially endorses Pomona Trustee Louie for election," said Toni Fallon, Chair of the Caucus. "Rita has always been an active leader in the community, and she will continue to remain an advocate for controlled growth. She is dedicated to working hard for the people of Haverstraw."

"And when elected, Rita Louie will be the first woman Town Supervisor in Rockland County history."

"We need to be pro-active and aggressively pursue the preservation of our history, our culture and our open space while encouraging growth in existing businesses to add to our tax base and keep our taxes low," says Louie.  "I have worked successfully on such matters on behalf of the residents of Pomona and would like to continue this important work on the Town level.  I believe we can use our unique location in the Hudson Valley to bring in new and innovative businesses while identifying and preserving areas, such as Haverstraw Bay, that have cultural and historical value."

Louie is one of the leaders in the fight to oppose United Water's plans to build a desalination plant in Haverstraw to treat water from the Hudson River and sell it to Rockland residents for drinking water. As part of the Rockland Water Coalition, Louie has stood up to advocate on behalf of ratepayers and the Haverstraw Bay. She spearheaded the effort to gather over 25,000 signatures from Rockland County residents against the project.
