Sr. Fran Gorsuch Heads Board of Catholic Community Services of Rockland

HAVERSTRAW, Oct. 7, 2013 – Haverstraw-based nonprofit Catholic Community Services of Rockland today announced the appointment of Sr. Fran Gorsuch, CBS, Executive of its Board of Trustees. Sr. Fran, as she is best known, is Director of Community Initiative, Bon Secours Charity Health System. She replaces Fr. Arthur Mastrolia, former pastor of St. Paul’s parish in Congers and now at St. Anthony’s in Yonkers.

 

Sr. Fran was previously Board Secretary of the human services agency that serves non-Catholics and Catholics in the entire county under its mission banner “Meet the Need.” CCSR provides food to Rockland’s hungry; helps families avoid eviction; assists in emergency utilities payments and provides resource services for immigrants. The agency has recently received accolades for its fresh grown produce program for Rockland neediest.

Community Services of Rockland is governed by a 12-member Board of Trustees who serve three-year terms. Board of Trustees include Sr. Fran; Rev. Msgr. Kevin Sullivan (Catholic Charities ADNY); Rev. Msgr. Emmet Nevins, Gerald Moriarity, Carlos Acevedo, Cathy Saldino, Leni Tiongosn, Mary Leahy, MD;  Susan O’Connor; Kelly Peach; Joan Schroeder, and Anna Stellwag.

Martha Robles, executive director of Catholic Community Services of Rockland, said she welcomes Sr. Fran at the helm of the Trustees. “Sr. Fran is a go-getter and full of energy. She’s playing a key role in our upcoming Sixth Annual Community Service Celebration Dinner on October 17, which is our major fundraiser. I look forward to officially recognizing her at this event and working with her in her new capacity over the next three years.”

 

Sr. Fran’s other committees/boards include United Hospice of Rockland; Immigration Coalition of Rockland; Healthy Priorities Committee, Rockland County Department of Health; Stop Fear Delta Advisory Committee, Center for Safety & Change; Vocation/Formation Team, and Sisters of Bon Secours.
