STAC SPARTANS ADVANCE TO NCAA DII NATIONAL TOURNAMENTS

St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans baseball team, golf team and track & field athlete, George Erazo, have earned places in NCAA Division II National competitions.

The Spartan baseball team won the East Coast Conference championship, for the second year in a row, and went on to win the NCAA Division II Baseball Regional playoffs.  The team was crowned the East Region Champions at the tournament in Manchester, NH, and has earned a place in the 2014 NCAA Division II Baseball National Finals.  They will be traveling to Cary, NC, to compete in the Finals from

May 24-31, 2014.  The Spartans first match up will be against South Central Region champion Colorado Mesa University.  Only eight teams in the country remain in the quest for the Division II National Championship.

The Spartan golf team finished second in the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Atlantic East Super Regional in early May, with four of their five golfers finishing in the top 20.  The team, led by senior Thomas Linehan (Dansville, NY), earned a place in the National Tournament at The Meadows in Allendale, MI, and is currently competing.  The Spartans are among only 20 teams in the tournament nationwide. This is the fifth time the Spartan golf team has earned a national title berth in the past six years.
