A graduate of Brooklyn College and Yale Law School, he joined the Harvard Law School faculty in 1964, and three years later became the youngest person to make full professor in the history of the school. Unusual for someone who spent his career in academia, he also maintained an active appellate practice. He is currently the Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law at Harvard Law School.

“Alan Dershowitz is one of the outstanding communicators of our time. His articulate and nuanced advocacy for Israel resonates deeply with our membership,” says NCJC Rabbi David Berkman. “But he’s also a fascinating storyteller, whose career in law few can match. This is an exciting opportunity to hear him tell those stories.”

Dershowitz, whose career has spanned nearly half a century, has taken on some of the most sensational and headline-making cases of his day. Never one to shy from controversy, he successfully handled the appeal of pornography actor Harry Reems’ obscenity conviction; represented British socialite Claus Von Bulow’s at appeal for the attempted murder of his wife, Sunny; and served as an appellate advisor on the O.J. Simpson murder case.

Dershowitz is a prolific writer and has published more than a thousand artuckes in such publications as the New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, Harvard Law Review and the Huffington Post. He is the author of 30 works of fiction and non-fiction, including the New York Times number one best-seller, “Chutzpah,” and the 2003 book, “In Defense of Israel.”
