A Day For Hunting And Fishing Enthusiasts

Congers Lake Memorial Park is the site for this Saturday’s National Hunting and Fishing Day event. Stan Pascoo, president of the United Sportsmen Association of Rockland, said the program attracted more than 1,000 people last year.

Family friendly activities to inform and entertain are scheduled. The free event begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. and includes fishing for fun with equipment provided by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. No license is needed to fish in Congers Lake on Saturday.

There will be fly-fishing and archery demonstrations and instruction plus opportunities to make cane fishing poles, meet hunting dogs and learn about outdoor foraging and wilderness survival.
