Congers Lake Memorial Park is the site for this Saturday’s National
Hunting and Fishing Day event.
Stan Pascoo, president of the United Sportsmen Association of Rockland, said the
program attracted more than 1,000 people last year.
Family friendly activities to inform and entertain are scheduled. The free event begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. and includes fishing for fun with equipment provided by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. No license is needed to fish in Congers Lake on Saturday.
There will be fly-fishing and archery demonstrations and instruction plus opportunities to make cane fishing poles, meet hunting dogs and learn about outdoor foraging and wilderness survival.
The Sportsmen for Charity & United Sportsmen Association are sponsoring the event at 6 Gilchrest Drive in Congers. The more than 20 participating organizations include Trout Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, Pearl River Gun Club, Quality Deer Management, Ducks Unlimited, Hudson Highland Hunting Retriever Club and The Venison Coalition.
