Feb 5: Snow, Sleet, Freezing Rain, Snow

New City residents: expect to wake up to a wintry mix.

No rest for the weary shoveler. Our last snowstorm may have been just a day ago, but folks in and around New City could see another three to seven inches of snow and ice by Wednesday afternoon.

And that's not the end of it.

The National Weather Service is calling for the snow to mix with sleet after 3 a.m. Feb. 5, changing to sleet and freezing rain during the day Wednesday—with a slight chance of more snow Wednesday night.

Plus, there's a chance of snow on Sunday.

The NWS has issued a winter storm warning in effect from midnight to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

"A winter storm warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring," it warns. "Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel keep an extra flashlight, foot and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency."
