Hoping the unusual date combination will bring them luck, couples are lining up to be married today — 12/12/12 — at Clarkstown Town Hall in New City.
Clarkstown Town Clerk Justin Sweet says he has six couples who plan to wed today in civil ceremonies throughout the day. Officials throughout the region report they too have many couples who have arranged civil ceremonies today.
At noon, Sheila and William Flynn of West Nyack were wed in one of the ceremonies.
Across the country, wedding chapels in Las Vegas are expecting a busy today as couples rush to wed on this unusual date. This is the last such triple date day that will hit until Jan. 1, 2101.
"People are hoping this date will be lucky for them," Sweet said as he was getting ready for today's ceremonies.
