'End Of The World' Prank Gets 20-Year-old Ejected From Mall

Man walked around Palisades Center mall wearing gas mask; others dressed in costumes as "end of the world" was the talk of the town.

From the Little League fields at Zukor Park to the corridors of Palisades Center mall, the "end of the world" was the talk of Clarkstown Saturday.

The world did not end.

However, a 20-year-old man did find himself getting ejected from Palisades Center mall over a prank related to the prophecy made by Harold Camping, an 89-year-old Christian radio entrepreneur, who launched a media campaign touting his prediction.

Clarkstown police said the young man was carrying a book about armageddon and walked around the mall wearing a gas mask. Police said the young man created a bit of a stir at the mall, and as a result to told to leave the mall by police and mall security.

Police also noted that apparently numerous people rented costumes to wear Saturday as part of the "end of the world" hype.
