Hundreds Attend September 11th Memorial Service At Haverstraw Park

Rockland County held an 11th anniversary observance of the September 11 attacks that took the lives of 82 people with ties to the county.

About 250 family members and friends joined government officials and law enforcement representatives at a memorial service remembering the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Under a bright blue sky, the ceremony held at Haverstraw Bay County Park included bagpipe music, prayers, songs and readings.  As the names of 82 people, who were residents of Rockland or connected to the county, were read, children placed yellow roses by their etched names on the memorial.
