Local Religious Youth Group Program Receives Honor

The Metropolitan New York Region of United Synagogue Youth (USY) named the Nanuet Hebrew Center its Chapter of the Year. The annual award is presented to the USY chapter that exhibits leadership, creative programming and the spirit of helping others through charity and membership growth. The Nanuet Hebrew Center’s chapter has grown from a handful of members to more than 50 participants in four years.

“This is an awesome success story for Nanuet Hebrew Center,” said Todd Steingart, Youth Committee Chairman and Vice President of Nanuet Hebrew Center. “Not only do we have over 50 kids in our USY and Kadima youth programs, we continually send record numbers of kids to regional events and to summer USY programs like USY on Wheels, Israel Pilgrimage and USY Encampment.”

USY’s Metro NY Region consists of Rockland, Westchester, Orange, Nassau and Suffolk counties as well as the five boroughs of New York City.
