The New York Lottery continues to be North America's largest and most profitable Lottery, contributing close to $2.9 billion in fiscal year 2011-2012 to help support education in New York State. The Lottery's aid represents nearly 15 percent of total state education funding to local school districts.

Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education. It takes into account both a school district's size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding.

Good thing she didn't win the top prize; she would have been forced to receive 20 years of annuity payments, as the NY Lottery is notorious in forcing scratch game winners to receive periodic payments. A better game is "Sweet Million" (Mondays & Thursdays; $1 million CASH) or head to New Jersey and its "Pick-6" with a jackpot of over $20 million. with a CASH OPTION.
