The library board approved the expenditure of $114,000 last year for the removal of old carpeting in the library’s public areas and replacement with carpet squares. Some of the carpeting was original to when the building opened. The library’s Building & Grounds Committee said the carpet squares could be replaced more easily than rolled carpet if they got damaged. The carpeting was installed in December when the library closed for three days for upgrading of its circulation software.

The Starnet company, which submitted the library’s entry, was RD Weiss Companies of Port Chester. The architect/designer for the project, Lothrop Associates LLP of White Plains, chose Tandus carpeting for the library.
