New City Teen Competing In Local Pageant

Kiersten Ahle of New City will participate in the 2014 Miss Westchester Teen & Miss Hudson Valley Teen Pageant on August 3 at the White Plains Performing Arts Center in White Plains. Ahle, 16, and the other contestants will be judged in swimsuit, evening gown and personal interview.

"Pageantry is a great opportunity to be your best self, become active in your community and forge ahead into careers you would not have known possible," said Ahle, a junior at Clarkstown South High School.

The honor student is involved in several sports and volunteer programs. In her sophomore year, Ahle was the JV Field Hockey Team captain, received the Leading Scorer Award and in her freshman year, she was named Rookie of the Year Award. She currently volunteers with the school’s SPIRIT group where assists youngsters with disabilities.

"It’s always a good thing to help others in your community who are less fortunate,” said Ahle Even if it means doing something that seems so minor to you. Whatever small acts of kindness you can provide within your community could go a long way, which means doing things such as donating clothing or fundraising for a special cause,"

The pageant winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize in addition to other gifts. Tickets for the 4 p.m. event can be purchased by calling the White Plains Performing Arts Center Box Office at 877-548-3237. Advance tickets cost $35 and day of performance tickets cost $45.
