New Eagle Scout Honored in New City

Eagle Court of Honor celebrates Nicholas James Oster of a New Hempstead reaching scouting's top rank.

An Eagle Scout Court of Honor took place at St. Augustine's Church in New City Saturday to recognized Nicholas James Oster of a New Hempstead and Boy Scout Troop #79 for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

The event was attended by his family, friends, and fellow scouts. Oster received many awards acknowledging his achievement, including a Distinguished Service Award from Rockland County, which was presented by County Legislator Ed Day of New City and Legislator Toney Earl of New Hempstead.

Only 2 percent of all Boy Scouts nationwide attain the rank of Eagle Scout.
