Twenty Resumes Submitted For Library Director Position

Trustee hopes to fill vacant executive director job by December

New City Library Board Trustee Tom Ninan said 20 applicants submitted resumes for the executive director position, which has been vacant since early May.  Ninan, who chairs the New Director Search Committee, told the board the committee hopes to select a new executive director before year's end.

Ninan said the committee plans to meet again in two or three weeks and review all the applicants to select the top three candidates.

“Our goal is to have a new director by December,” said Ninan at Thursday's meeting.

Committee members include Trustee Anthony Feliciano, former Trustee Aney Paul, Board President Joseph Reiter and library staff members Nancy Moskowitz and Debbie Murphy.

Chuck McMorran, the executive director, left his position on May 4 and several weeks later the board appointed Marianne Silver as the interim director. Silver has told the board she was not interested in applying for the permanent position of executive director. Once a new executive director is found, Silver will return to her job as adult reference supervisor.
