Award Winning British Author Howard Whitehouse Helps "Tell Your Own Story"

The Friends of the New City Library will present “TELL YOUR OWN STORY” with Howard Whitehouse on Monday, September, 24 2012 at 7:00 PM  at the New City Library, 220 North Main Street, New City, NY.

Howard Whitehouse, award winning British novelist and story teller, will lead participants in telling their own unique stories.

Everyone has a fascinating story - it's just that most of us don't know what we have to tell.  You don’t have to write your autobiography to talk about your life.

Think about your crazy uncle, the recipe your grandmother made that you could never quite re-create, the vacation cabin with that strange smell – what was that, anyway?

And, what was that story about your maiden aunt and the bucket of whitewash? Did grandma really steal that fire engine? Do you still have that sharkskin suit that looked so sharp when you were nineteen?

It's like writing your memoirs without all the tiresome paperwork. And it’s a lot of fun.

Howard Whitehouse is a British writer, model-maker and historian. In previous careers he’s been a family counselor, worked with juvenile offenders, sold books and model soldiers.  He used to think his own family background was quite dull until he found out about the second cousin who beat Sugar Ray Robinson for the world middleweight crown, and the ancestor who - blind drunk - fell off his own wagon and was run over by it.

Join Whitehouse for an evening of good-humored questions to provoke your own memories, strange tales and funny stories. Listen to other people’s recollections and pitch in with your own.
