Holiday Festival Benefit for Rockland Family Shelter

Press release from www.rocklandfamilyshelter.org:

LOCAL MAN CHANGES HEADS FOR COMMUNITY'S BENEFIT

20 years ago when Bob Press's daughter needed a liver transplant his medical insurance felt the procedure was too experimental and would not provide coverage. He turned to his community for help. Today Shaylyn is a thriving young woman. Bob never forgot what the community did for his family. He has worked since then to give back the support and financial assistance they received.

As the owner of CHANGING HEADS, a hair salon at 101 Main St. in Tappan, New York, Bob donates complimentary services to clients of the Rockland Family Shelter (RFS) who may need a new look to help them start a new life but could not otherwise afford it.

Still, Bob wanted to do more.  Wednesday, December 15 from 6 to 8 PM, the Main Street of Tappan (between Oak Tree and Old Tappan) will be closed to automobile traffic. The street will become a promenade of celebration. A community gift basket valued at $500 will be raffled off with the proceeds going to the Shelter. Tappan Zee High School's MADRIGAL SINGERS led by Russel Wagoner will be singing Christmas carols in front of the salon. Rob Norden of the '76 House and the Tappan Library will provide free hot chocolate and cookies.

The Tappan Firehouse will be open to the public. The firemen will be collecting gifts, cards and toys for RFS clients and their children and of course, Santa Claus will be in residence. Tappan Zee Librarian Sarah Nugent has arranged for Library Board President Thano Schoptel to read selections from classic holiday stories.

Rockland Family Shelter is very grateful to Bob and all the good people at Changing Heads Salon, The '76 House, Il Portico, Grape d'Vine, All State Insurance, Louie's on the Avenue(Pearl River), Joe and Joe (Pearl River), Tac Box, Tappan Fire Department, Tappantown Historical Society and the Tappan Library who have donated and are supporting this event..
