Grants Available for Community Art Projects

Arts Council of Rockland to share information at series of meetings starting July 13.

The Arts Council of Rockland will award Community Arts Grants to eligible non-profit organizations and artists sponsored by an eligible organization for projects taking place in 2012.

The objective of the grants is to:

  • encourage arts programming for Rockland residents
  • assist emerging arts organizations
  • promote the cultural expressions of ethnic groups and
  • provide arts programming to under-served and minority communities.

The grants will help cover costs such as payment of artist fees, marketing fees, direct arts-related expenses and direct administrative expenses. The guidelines require the projects be open to the public and occur in the county between January 1 and December 31, 2012. In the past, grants have been awarded for amounts from $500 to $4,300 with average amount being $1,200.

Informational Meetings lasting about one hour will explain the application process, eligibility requirements and give applicants a chance to ask questions. They are scheduled for:

  • Wednesday, July 13 – 9:30 a.m., Arts Council of Rockland, 185 N. Main Street, Spring Valley
  • Tuesday, July 19 – 6:30 p.m., Haverstraw Library, 10 W. Ramapo Road, Garnerville
  • Monday, July 25  - 1:00 p.m., New City Library, 220 North Main Street, New City
  • Thursday, August 4 – 7:00 p.m., Nyack Library, 59 South Broadway, Nyack
  • Wednesday, August 10 – 10:30 a.m., Suffern Library, 210 Lafayette Avenue, Suffern
  • Tuesday, August 16 – 4:00 p.m., Arts Council of Rockland, 185 N. Main Street, Spring Valley

 

Reservations are required and can be made by calling 845-426-3660 or e-mailing info@artscouncilofrockland.org. All applicants must attend an informational meeting or meet with Arts Council staff. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, September 13 at 1 p.m.
