It’s been roughly a year since 16 Handles opened in New City, and in the second year fans of the frozen yogurt store can expect more of the same, as well as some new additions.
“We’re going to have some new flavors and new toppings,” said co-owner Lenny Spiegel. “We’re also going to get in some new items. We’re finally getting a whipped cream machine. A lot of people have been asking about that.”
Spiegel also said that in the fall the store is getting a machine that doles out hot and cold chocolate.
The store celebrated its first anniversary on Saturday, featuring music from a DJ, face painting, balloon animals, raffles and sales on yogurt and toppings. Possibly making the day even more celebratory, it was a relatively warm one just days after another snowstorm.
“We dipped a bit during the winter, but that’s expected,” Spiegel said. “But we still had a lot of people coming in. The year really flew by, and things have already started picking back up in the last few weeks or so after the winter. And this year we actually had a winter. Last year we opened in February and it was already warm.”
