Boulders To Play NYPD Baseball Team In Charity Spring Training Game

Quebec Capitales will also train at Provident Bank Park in Pomona.

The 2012 training camp schedule will feature a charity exhibition game against the New York City Police Department baseball team and a home game at Provident Bank Park in Pomona on Mothers Day.

The team also says it will share use of Provident Bank Park with the Quebec Capitales for a portion of training camp.

Highlights of the 11-day training camp, which starts on May 5, include an exhibition game against the NYPD baseball team on Saturday, May 12 at 6 p.m., followed by a fireworks show. The Boulders will host the New Jersey Jackals at 2 p.m. on Mothers Day, Sunday May 13.

In both instances, there will be no charge to attend, although donations will be accepted for the NYPD game for a charity to be determined.

Practice is closed to the public.

“We are really looking forward to the start of training camp,” said Rockland Boulders manager Dave LaPoint. “There is a hunger in the belly of the returning players to succeed combined with an infusion of enthusiasm from our new, talented free agents. It should be a very spirited and competitive camp.”

“Last season we were very grateful to be able to partner with Rockland Community College to use their facilities for training camp,” said Ken Lehner President of the Boulders. “However, it will be nice to start the season being settled into Provident Bank Park which is one of our greatest assets. It is also nice to be good sports and allow one of our rivals to train here and help the local economy as well. ”

The three-time defending CanAm League champions Quebec Capitales will be training at Provident Bank Park from May 5 to 10. This will allow them to enjoy the mild weather Ramapo has to offer instead of the unpredictable weather they normally endure during training camp in Quebec City, Quebec.

“We are very grateful to the Rockland Boulders and Supervisor Christopher P. St. Lawrence for working with us to make this happen,” said Michel Laplante President of the Quebec Capitales. “Provident Bank Park is not only the best ballpark in the Can Am League, it is considered one of the finest in America. It will be an honor to take the field and practice in Ramapo in preparation of the upcoming season.”

Individual game tickets will go on sale for the Rockland Boulders during the first week of April. Currently, group tickets, mini-plans, flex packages and suite rentals are available for purchase. For more information on all ticket options,  call 845-364-0009 or go to the Boulders website at www.rocklandboulders.com.

Even if thy jail CSL and some of his cronies that stadium is still there as a burden on theRead More taxpayers. If Ramapo decides to sell it the Orthodox community will buy it for less than its assessed value and build Orthodox housing or dorms. In the end the taxpayer from Ramapo loses big time.

What professional doesn't spend $500 per year on out of pocket expenses related to their jobs?Read More Staples offering 10% (or 5 in some cases) is hardly an example of the community getting involved. Thankfully, there are other examples of the community and PTA's getting involved and providing needed services. Clarkstown and surrounding areas hardly have substantial unmet needs in their classroom, thankfully.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.

George, don't you have enough to do straightening out the affairs of Clarkstown. Overtime in theRead More Police Department is rampant and the Town Attorney is out of control. As Tom Nimick says, we need an outside auditor for that operation since taxpayers were abused with the hiring of a political operative Jay Savino who I understand is singing like a canary. Get on the right side George before the FBI comes a lookin" I hear that the Gromack war chest is the first place they are looking for clues. Do the right thing George or you will get trampled with the rest of them.
Tom Nimick May 15, 2013 at 11:12 pm
Congratulations, George. Now about your other responsibilities as a member of the Town Board withRead More primary oversight over budget and expenditures: Won't you be the one to propose the needed audit of the Office of Town Attorney? You know the problems exist - likely you know more about the problems than I do. It is sad to see you silent in the face of the abuse of patronage. When will we hear your voice on it?

The new format is attractive but it is hard to find the comments that go with stories.
