Film Shoot in Downtown Nyack

Some parking to be affected.

A film shoot today and Thursday in downtown Nyack is going to affect parking in the area, according to the Nyack Chamber of Commerce.

Nyack President Scott Baird says a Disney Family Channel series pilot is being shot in the village. As a result, there will be some downtown restrictions:

  • No parking today and Thursday on Main Street between Cedar Street and Broadway from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Pedestrian traffic will be stopped intermittently during those hours.

They do bring money to people who live here when they film on your property. It happens, location scouts chose our block for a pilot last year.

They added nothing to the economy in Pearl River last year. They brought in everything they needed including meals and did not buy one thing locally. All they did is screw up parking for the local business.

Obviously it's not enough money to the villages or the business's. For Nyack its more about look at us. And filming at your house isn't bringing any revenue to anyone but that homeowner. Like I said its more disruption then anything.
