The Weekend: Evil Dead Musical, Goblin Parade

Events taking place around the county this Friday, Saturday, Sunday

With the work week nearing its end, check out this list of just a few things you can do around the county this weekend:

Evil Dead The Musical

  • When/Where - Friday and Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m. at the Nyack Village Theater, located at 94 Main St, Nyack.
  • Why Go - Enjoy a musical based on the classic cult zombie film. Note: the first two rows are asked to “prepare to be splattered.” The show is also playing the following weekend on the same days and times.
  • Pricing - $15 online, $20 day of show.


Goblin Parade

  • When/Where - Saturday 11 a.m. at the Congers Lake Memorial Park and Community Center, located at 6 Gilchrest Road, Congers.
  • Why Go - Kids 10-and-under can participate in this year’s Goblin Parade, featuring prizes, games, refreshments and a bounce house. Costume prizes will be awarded for scariest, most original, funniest, cutest, best superhero or villain, best animal and best sports costume.
  • Pricing - Free.


Pet Palace Octoberfest

  • When/Where - Sunday 12-4 p.m. at Pet Palace, located at 174 S. Main Street, New City.
  • Why Go - Dress up your pet and yourself for Pet Palace’s annual event, featuring food, music, raffles and costume contest for both humans and animals. The event also raised money for the New City Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
  • Pricing - Free.


Cut-A-Thon For Breast Cancer

  • When/Where - Sunday 12-4 p.m. at Voge Hair Salon, located at 78 S. Middletown Road, Nanuet.
  • Why Go - Get a haircut for $25 with all money going to Pink Hair for Hope, which raises money for breast cancer awareness and research.
  • Pricing - $25 per haircut.


Harvest Book Fair

  • When/Where - Sunday 1-3 p.m. at Piermont Public Library, located at 25 W. Fly Wheel Park, Piermont.
  • Why Go - Not only will books be for sale, but the fair will also feature 20 local authors who write in a wide range of genres will be on hand to discuss their work as well.
  • Pricing - Free.
