Dr. Tracy Urvater opens Access Physical Therapy & Wellness in New City's 200 Eckerson Building

NEW CITY, N.Y. (Oct. 2) – Doctor of Physical Therapy Tracy Urvater, who has been helping Rockland County residents improve their health and quality of life for more than 20 years, has opened Access Physical Therapy & Wellness in New City.

Dr. Urvater’s easily accessible office is at 200 East Eckerson Road, at the corner of West Clarkstown Road. Maria Ljuljdjuraj is the office’s customer service specialist. The phone number is 845-578-9898; toll-free 888-796-9460. On the web: www.accessptw.com.

Urvater, who was affiliated for the last seven years with a Rockland-based orthopedic practice, has partnered with Orange County-based Access Physical Therapy & Wellness to serve Rockland County. She met her first Rockland County patients 20 years ago when she became a Clarkstown resident.

Board-certified by the American Physical Therapy Association, she has 25 years’ experience in orthopedics and sports medicine rehabilitation. She has a special interest in spine, knee and shoulder-related injuries, as well as in the health of the “overhead athlete” – players of baseball, tennis, volleyball etc. She is a former softball player, youth baseball coach and competitive swimmer.

Professionally, she strives to give her patients the most current, evidence-based treatment possible, so that they can return to their maximum functional potential. In fact, Urvater has been focused on wellness since she was 7 years old, when her mother explained to her that it was “physical therapy” that was providing priceless help to a disabled relative.

“Physical therapy helps people get better. There is nothing more rewarding than helping people achieve goals that improve their quality of life,” Urvater said. “I love helping people.”

A Rockland County resident since 1994, Urvater lives in Clarkstown with her husband Rick, a guidance counselor at Pearl River High School, and their children Aimee, 19; Jeffrey, 16; and Brian, 13.

Access Physical Therapy & Wellness is a family-owned organization that provides quality physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy services in 18 locations in five states, eight in Orange and Westchester counties. Access was founded 10 years ago by physical therapists and brothers Stephen and Christopher Albanese – natives of the nearby Orange County Town of Monroe – and their respective spouses, physical therapists Shannon Albanese and Janet Albanese. The company has twice been honored as one of the Best Companies to Work for in New York by the New York State Society for Human Resource Management and Best Companies Group.

Access works to raise awareness about the benefits of physical therapy. “More and more studies show that earlier access to physical therapy can lower overall healthcare costs for a number of common ailments,” said Stephen Albanese. “Rehab is a low-cost option that can help people get out of pain and have an improved quality of life. That’s what we’re all about.

“You won’t find a better physical therapist than Dr. Tracy Urvater,” he continued. “We’re very excited to be her partner in New City.”

Access Physical Therapy & Wellness is open weekdays 7 a.m.‐8 p.m., Saturdays 8 a.m.‐noon. They accept most insurances – and new patients can almost always be seen within 24 hours of calling Access.
