Exciting Summer Job Opportunity!

Certified Lifeguard/Summer Art Program Staff Member

The Certified Lifeguard/Summer Art Staff Member will assist the program directors in leading the daily activities of the Summer Earth Art Waterways Program. The Summer Art Staff Member will be a part of a team responsible for guiding children and teens ages 7-­15 in outdoor explorations in garden, stream and woodland environments, and assisting children with fine art and crafts in both studio and outdoor settings. Tasks include: contributing to the daily planning session, preparing natural and fine art materials for art and science exploration, staging outdoor and indoor spaces for activities, leading games during transition times, cleaning up after activities (putting away materials and tools, sweeping, mopping), preparing afternoon snack, aiding children with their gear, and contributing to debrief sessions at the end of each day.  

As a certified lifeguard, the staff member will be responsible for the supervision of up to 10 children, with additional on-site staff support, during the occasional swims off the hiking trail in Rockland's waterbodies (which may include woodland swimming holes, ponds, lakes and rivers).

Requirements:
-­‐must be 18 years or older
--must have certified lifeguard training & experience (certified with CPR and First Aid) 

-­‐must have experience and enjoy working with children
-­‐must have skills for and enjoy and dialoguing with children, listening and responding with interest and furthering their questioning and exploratory process

-­‐must have experience and enjoy spending time in the outdoors (ie: camping, hiking, exploring, bird watching, boating, etc.)

-­‐must have leading energy and enthusiasm for daily outings involving hiking to outdoor classrooms in stream and woodland environments 

-­‐must have an aptitude for fine art and crafts

Must Be Available the following dates:

Staff Training:

Tues. June 24 -  9am - 1pm (half day)

Wed. June 25 - 9am - 5pm (full day)

Thurs. June 26 - 2pm - 5:30pm (half day)

Fri.  June 27 - 9am - 5pm (full day)

Summer Program:

Mon - Thurs. 8:30am - 5pm

June 30 - July 17

ages 7-12

Mon - Fri, 8:30am - 5pm

July 21 - Aug. 1

ages 12 - 15

Program Debrief & Cleanup:    Mon-Tues Aug. 4th & 5th
