Student art on the auction block for Big Brothers Big Sisters

December 9, 2013] Alphabet All Around is a labor of love, collaboratively created by twelve Suffern High School artists to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockland County. The mixed media collage will be sold to the highest bidder at the Art for Kids’ Sake Auction fundraiser at the Crowne Plaza Suffern on December 13.  Proceeds will help fund mentoring, education and support services for local youth.

"This year's theme for our chapter of the National Art Honor Society is to extend ourselves beyond the walls of SHS and share our passion for making art with the community,” reported Suffern High School art teacher and NAHS advisor Tracy Berges. “When the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Rockland County reached out to our group to contribute to their fundraising efforts, the students jumped at the chance to assist the organization.  The students tend to be more connected and excited about projects when they know it will be helping other children and teens in their own community."
