Day vs. Fried

Folks, THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION IN YOUR LIFETIME is one short month ahead.  If you haven't already been apprised of a few things, then let me oblige.  Rockland county is facing its worst fiscal and societal crisis that it has ever seen.  The county is $128 million in the hole!  There is a cultural war raging in East Ramapo with no resolution in sight.  There could very well be numerous arrests of Ramapo public officials in connection with the FBI raid which occurred on May 15, 2013.  Rockland is starving for true leadership.  Enter Ed Day and David Fried.  One of these two people will be elected as your next County Executive on November 5th.

At the debate between these two gentlemen which was held on October 3rd, there was a crucial moment in which one candidate defined himself as an unequivocal leader.  The question was presented to both candidates in regards to Ilan Schoenberger ( Democratic primary loser to David Fried ) vacating his status as County Executive candidate on both the Independence and Working Families party lines.

A quick history: within one week of Ilan losing the Democratic line, he did an interview with the New City Patch in which he told them that he would be withdrawing his name from both the Independence and Working Families.  The reporter queried as to how that was even legal?  Ilan responded that the chairmanship of both of those parties would have to nominate him for a judgeship in another county.  He further clarified that he would accept the nomination and then not campaign or even want the job.  In short, a bunch of lawyer-types scoured the election laws and came up with a stupid loophole.  It's dangerous to think that Mr. Schoenberger was very close to leading a whole county considering the moral ineptness that he possesses.

However, the question begs who would be foolish enough to go along with a despicable plan such as this?  The answer is David Fried.

As I was saying earlier, the question was posed to both candidates as to their feelings about Ilan's complete moral bankruptcy in regards to withdrawing to enter into a sham election.  One candidate gave a response that exemplifies leadership and the other gave a response that exemplifies embarrassment.

Ed Day's response:  "To me, if you are a person who fought for this country, or know someone who fought for this country, you should be absolutely incensed that a set-up could occur where someone can do something with that amount of ease and insult everyone who fought under this flag for the right to vote."

Fried's response:  "It's what the law allows.  It's what the law enables."

Fried also stated that he thinks we need election reform.  Very astute.  But the gist of his defense is, until that day comes, I'm onboard with this organized scheme.

Clearly, in my mind only one candidate provided me with the possibility of hope and leadership moving forward in this county.  His name is Ed Day.  I would like to also add that this is not only offensive to war veterans, it is offensive to any free-thinking American.  Hundreds of people signed Independence and Working Families petitions for Ilan Schoenberger.  He has flipped them the figurative middle finger by abandoning ship.

Also, please remember that this November 5th voters will have the opportunity to vote for Ed Day on the PreserveRockland line.  This line was organized and fought for in court by average citizens that only wish for a brighter future for themselves and their families.  PreserveRockland is truly the PEOPLE'S LINE.
