More than 1,000 people crowded along the Stony Point Seawall to watch 300 people ignore the below freezing air temperature and take the plunge into the chilly Hudson River as the Stony Point Seals hosted their 14th Annual Polar Plunge Sunday at noon.
The shock set in quickly as some ran out as soon as they were wet, while others let their bodies get numb and lingered in the water chest deep as they waved American flags and shouted "USA, USA, USA," and an expletive-filled Hurricane Sandy chant as well.
Proceeds from this year's event will go to North Rockland residents affected by Hurricane Sandy.
